Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs)
Our staff includes three Certified Nurse-Midwives. Midwives have assisted in childbirth for centuries. Today’s CNM is thoroughly trained to care for you during pregnancy, delivery and beyond. A CNM also has extensive training in well-woman gynecological care.
 | Frieda B. Tucker, RN, CNM, MSNCertified Nurse MidwifeFrieda B. Tucker attended the East Carolina University School of Medicine and has been practicing in the capacity of Midwife since 1999. She is Board Certified and holds membership in several organizations, including the American College of Nurse Midwives and the North Carolina Chapter of the American College of Nurse Midwives. She is married and says that her family, which includes three young-adult children, four dogs and two cats, love to spend time together. In addition, she likes reading, knitting and jogging. |
 | Carolyn M. Green, RN, CNM, MSNCertified Nurse MidwifeCarolyn M. Green attended East Carolina University and the Brody School of Nursing. She has performed for over 24 years as a Registered Nurse, for 18 years in Labor and Delivery and practicing as a Nurse Midwife since 2004. She is certified by the American College of Nurse Midwives and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International. Among other activities, she served as the PCMH Steering Committee for Breastfeeding /Baby Friendly Initiative. When free, she enjoys playing the piano and cooking. She and her husband Bob have one daughter. |
 | Lisa Barkley, RN, CNM, MSNCertified Nurse Midwife Lisa Barkley’s experience has taken her throughout the Eastern North Carolina region, serving as Labor and Delivery Nurse for four years at Albemarle Hospital and Certified Nurse Midwife since 1998. She received her Masters degree in Nursing from Stony Brook SUNY, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Regents College in Albany, NY. She and her husband, C.J., have four children. |
